What causes hard disk failure?
Since the beginning of hard drive technology, users have been frustrated by hard disks crashing. Unfortunately there is no way to stop your disk drive from breaking down. However, there are some things you should know that can help prevent a total catastrophe:

"It's not a question of IF your hard drive will fail but WHEN"

HEAT problems cause delicate components in your hard drive to fail over time. Extreme overheating can lead to what is referred to as a "head crash," or worse mechanical break down. Always ensure that your computer has the proper ventilation and that it is NOT located in a space that is enclosed or where heat may build up. Maintain your computer by vacuuming and blowing out dust and build up. Preferably clean your computer once a month. Make sure to check the cooling fans in your computer and replace as necessary.

STATIC can wipe out electrical components. When you are going to handle your hard drive, make sure to GROUND YOURSELF. You can ground yourself by touching any metal part of your computer; while your computer is still plugged into the wall. By doing this, your body will be relieved of excess static electricity buildup. In addition, AVOID touching the GREEN PCB BOARD or CIRCUIT BOARD located on the bottom of your hard drive all together.

SHOCK or VIBRATION can wipe out a hard drive too. Drives are very sensitive to excessive movement, stress and collisions. The drive's "heads" (responsible for reading information off the drive) are positioned above "platters" (which store the data). When a drive is subjected to excess force or shock of any kind; the heads can be misaligned or smash into the platters (causing a literal CRASH.)

POWER SURGES or LOSSES are yet another cause for hard drive failure. Many times users skip buying a surge protector or uninterrupted power supply (UPS). The assumption that a standard power strip will suffice as adequate protection for your computer is incorrect. Quality surge protection provides better power regulation and therefore avoids damage from occurring during power interruption.

    ABOUT FLAT-RATE DATA RECOVERY:
The "low and extremely affordable" message is very misleading. Companies use "FLAT PRICE" tactics hoping they will have more volume. Usually these companies must attempt to move drives in and out as fast as possible. When extended time to recover data is required or if pricey parts are needed for repair, these companies may deem the data as unrecoverable because they cannot profit from it. This is NOT how your VALUABLE DATA should be handled!

DON'T LET INEXPERIENCED companies further degrade your chances for a successful data restoration outcome! Your data and information are EXTREMELY VALUABLE and most often IRREPLACEABLE.
